Twinfield Boys Basketball Freshman Forward

The Trojans relied on youth and balanced scoring while serving up a pair of thrilling victories to win the Bob Abrahamson Tip-Off Classic in Proctor. Boasting many of the same athletes from a semifinalist soccer program, Twinfield excelled in the second half of both games to finish the job against strong opponents at Buggiani Gym. Stewart kicked off the tourney by tallying nearly half of his team’s points during a scrappy effort against Proctor. He finished with 30 points to fuel a 61-56 victory over the Phantoms.

Stewart returned the following day and helped his team rally to a 43-32 win over Poultney in the title game. Twiinfeld clawed back from a 20-18 halftime deficit, opening up 32-27 lead at the end of the the third quarter and never looking back down the stretch. Stewart finished with seven points in addition to leading the Trojans on the glass and in the assist category. Teammate Sam Russell scored 17 points in the final, while TJ Bernatchy and Mele Gouge added six points apiece.
