Spaulding Junior Wrestler
The Crimson Tide stayed busy during the holiday break by traveling to Maine for the Noble Invitational, joining 45 other schools from across New England. Kalat became the first Spaulding grappler to take home first-place honors at the elite event by triumphing in the 144-pound division. He was the picture of efficiency in the opening round, serving up a pin in 74 seconds. He left nothing to chance against his next opponent and easily closed out a 15-3 victory. After overpowering his quarterfinal foe in 2:24, Kalat earned a pin in 3:18 during the semifinals. A championship match with Mount Blue’s Dillon Grey went the distance, with Kalat prevailing 8-6 to secure a spot at the top of the podium.
