PLAINFIELD – The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded a grant to replace the Brook Road bridge.

According to a news release issued Wednesday, the town will receive about $1.56 million to replace the bridge that’s too narrow underneath to handle large rain events. A new bridge will be installed and the roadway will be raised six inches to reduce flood risk. The entire project is expected to cost about $1.73 million, with the town paying a 10% match through its pandemic relief dollars.
