Paulina D. Bean NORTHFIELD — We are sad to announce the passing of Paulina D. Bean (Hurley) 1948-2023, daughter of Paul D. and Elizabeth (Union) Hurley. Polly passed away on October 31, 2023 at her Florida home with family by her side. She is survived by her husband Mark, son Mark J., (Eileen), her daughter Christine, grandchildren Patrick (Cynthia), Paul and Sabrina, and great-grandchildren Riley Rose and Beau Matthew. In addition to her immediate family, she is also survived by her sisters, Anne (Chicky) and Ronald Tucker, and Mary (Betsy) and Scott Higgins along with many nieces and nephews. Polly worked from home for many years as bookkeeper for the Bean family. She was a charter member of the Northfield Historical Society. Polly loved being outdoors and had many hobbies such as cross country skiing, golf, gardening, landscaping, and quilting just to name a few. She loved music (especially Motown), her 79' Chevy short-box truck and she loved life! She always put her family first making sure we had what we needed and consistently encouraged us to be the best version of ourselves. She was fiercely loyal to her family and friends and will be dearly missed. "I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, "Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again." Lewis Carroll, There will be no calling hours. Please make donations to CERV in Northfield Vermont 31 Dog River Dr, Northfield, VT 05663 and to Hospice of the Treasure Coast in Stuart, FL. www.treasurehealth.org

Mark and Family, I’m sad to read of Polly’s passing. I have many fond memories from ‘way back when’ of sitting around the Northfield Country Club with Polly and others, always laughing. I remember her as kind, caring, and fun loving. May your memories of her sustain you during this difficult time. Sue Mahoney, W. Palm Beach, FL
