Bert D. Fisher NORTHFIELD — Bert D. Fisher, 77, died December 12, 2023 at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin following a long illness. Born on February 9, 1946, Bert was the son of Chester and Alma (Farmer)Fisher. Bert graduated from Montpelier High School in 1964 and married the love of his life, Sylvia (Utton) on May 6, 1965 in Worcester and went on to raise three sons in the town of Washington. When the kids were out of the house, Bert and Sylvia moved to Northfield where they made their home for over 30 years. He worked for Green Mountain Power for nearly three decades. Following his retirement from GMP he held a number of driving jobs most recently as a volunteer for GMTA transporting people to appointments. Bert was an avid reader, often reading two or three books at the same time. You can bet that one of those books would be written by his favorite author, Stephen King while another would be a biography. He spent a significant amount of time and energy tracing family roots through his love of genealogy. His greatest joy was sharing his findings with anyone that would listen. Survivors include his wife of 58 years Sylvia, sons Hank of Northfield and Brent “Buzz” (Wanda Blondin) of Barre as well as sisters Sharon Gonzalez of Montpelier and Cheryl Pacheco of Tunbridge. Papa also leaves behind 6 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. Bert was predeceased by his parents, brothers Stanley, Ronald and Vernon as well as his son Clint, who passed away two months ago. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service in Worcestor will be held at a future date. Special thank you to Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home for their help. In Lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to Mayo Healthcare 71 Richardson Street, Northfield, VT 05663.
