Charles Crocker Sr CHELSEA — Charles Crocker, Sr. 80, of Chelsea, Vermont died peacefully on December 29, 2023, at home surrounded by family. Charlie was a spiritual person, who found awe and wonder in his faith and his reverence for science and nature. He was born on November 23, 1943, and was the only child of Sabin Crocker Jr. and Faith Wilson of Hingham, Massachusetts. He attended Hingham High School and went on after high school to take several art classes at a local community college. One of his first jobs while in high school was at the local Lobster Pound, which sparked his lifelong interest in cooking. Charlie had a deep appreciation for music, he was a talented artist and loved to design and build things. This led to his work in construction and later in architectural design, combining his interest in technology and design to create building plans and three-dimensional renderings for local architects. After retiring he stayed active with many projects around the house. Anyone who knew Charlie knew that he loved to chat. Whether he bumped into you locally to stop and talk or if you lived far away he never hesitated to pick up the phone. He maintained these lifelong connections with friends and family near and far. Charlie had a great sense of humor and loved to tell funny stories from throughout his life. He found joy in sharing a laugh with others. Charlie married his high school sweetheart, Maureen F. Breen, on June 6, 1964. They continued to live in Massachusetts while raising their two children, Tracy and Charlie Jr., and later moved to the Florida Keys for two years before purchasing land and building their home in Chelsea, VT in 1978. Family was important to Charlie, he took great pride in his children and grandchildren, and cherished time spent with them and his extended family. Charlie leaves behind his wife, Maureen; daughter Tracy of Chelsea, VT; son Charlie Jr. of Mallets Bay, VT; grandchildren Taylor Galfetti and her husband AJ Galfetti, of Washington, VT; Jesse Kay and her husband Wyatt Kay of Chelsea, VT; McKenna Brinkman and Logan Brinkman, of Chelsea; as well as his brother-in-law Dennis Breen and wife Patricia of Barre, VT; his sister-in-law Donna Breen of Scituate, MA; and his nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the many wonderful caregivers who made it possible for Charlie to be at home during these last several months and to hospice for their support and comfort during his last weeks. A celebration of life will be held to honor Charlie at a later date, yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Branch Ambulance, PO Box 74, Chelsea, Vermont 05038 in support of the care they have provided including home wellness checks in recent years, or to Visiting Nurse and Hospice of VT/NH, 88 Prospect Street, White River Junction, VT 05001.
